The Mom Bag

Here is my new love. My new carry-all. My new "Mom-Bag"
Made by me....with LOVE!

After getting my new camera  for my birthday, I wanted to be able to carry it, and my wallet, and phone, and diapers, and "Nacks!!" (as Gray calls them) with her "Joose". I wanted a nice bag, but not a suitcase, which is what I was going to need for all of that stuff.

After seeing Kirsten's "Everything Bag" over at Kojo Designs, I knew that I wanted to construct my own bag to carry everything except the kitchen sink (and maybe that too if I needed it)

I went to a fabric warehouse in town and found the most amazing wool. It was soft with great texture and a soft brown color. I picked up some leather while I was there too (or pleather, or whatever you call it).

It's a pretty large bag (16"x6"x12"), but reasonable for carrying. The bottom is padded with 1" thick foam wrapped in leather to protect my camera. Three pockets hold lense caps, accessories, and my phone.

It fits quite a lot of stuff! My wallet, cloth diapers, juice, camera lense and so much more. I also sewed two thick pads wrapped in wool to cushion my camera and lenses from other things in the bag.

I added two front snaps. The top one holds the top together if I have the bag FULL of stuff. The bottom one is for closing the bag up when there's not so much in it.

I love hardware, so I added some feet to the bottom to dress it up and give it something to stand on. Hubby says these were his idea, so I'll let him take credit for that one.

It's the perfect size for a "Mommy-on-the-GO" without being a suitcase...which is what we actually need sometimes.

I really do love this bag.
Making it myself just makes it more special.

  9. Did you add a place to hold your keys. Nothing worse that trying to find them in the bottom of the bag. Cheers

  17. I need to make a bag like this for our upcoming vacation. I really don't want to carry my camera back on the plane but I also don't want it to get broken on the trip. You may be my inspiration!

  19. Many persons are suggesting to substitute plastic bags with cotton bags or paper bags & cases. But you know pardon? Though plastic bags are problematic to damage, they need very few capitals to manufacture and transport.
