Happy Blog-iversary!!!

I absolutely cannot believe that I have been blogging for a year.

I started writing my thoughts to get them out of my head, because Hubby was asleep when I would get home while working 2nd shift. Gray was also asleep, but I could always count on her for a couple of reunions a night. She didn't sleep through the night until she was almost a year old. I could never sleep knowing she would wake up soon, so I was a zombie most nights and days for a very long time.

Here is a repost of that very first post....

----------------------------------------------------------------------

What a day....

Today was a horrible day at work. Sometimes I think about the movie "John Q" and how nice it must have been at that hospital for the doors to be closed for a small period of time with nobody coming inside. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, and love the madness of working at the hospital, but sometimes it can be too much! But it's over now, and I get a few hours at home before I get to go do it all over again. At least I have this weekend off.

As I sit here at 2:00am I realize that I should probably be in bed. I have come home from work, done a load of laundry, sewn my baby girl a new top and a new pair of jeans (the top matches one I made for me. Don't tell her!), and now I'm browsing around on the computer. A little part of me says to go to bed, because I'm tired and have to work again tomorrow. Another part of me says that Grayson will wake up soon and want to be fed, so I might as well stay up. Which side of my brain should I listen to?

She slept through the night last night, which has only happened three times in her almost 9 months of existence. It was nice, I must say, but I don't wanna get used to it too soon. Our routine of having no routine has worked for us so far, so why mess it up now. Mama makes a great zombie after all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Who knew that after a year of blogging, I would  have over 500 followers, and LOTS of readers and followers on other sites.
My projects have been featured on some *AMAZING* sites such as U-Create, Kojo-Designs, Tatertots and Jello, and Craft Gossip to name a few.
I LOVE sharing crafts, sewing, cloth diapering, and other mommy things with all of you, and I adore reading all of your sweet comments on posts.
Stay tuned...because tomorrow there might just be a *GIVEAWAY*
to celebrate our little Blog-iversary.

Dress Pattern Coming Soon

I've been working on a new dress pattern! I was at work the other night and got a concept in my head, and decided it HAD to be my next dress. It was bothering me so much as to how to construct it, I came home and made the world's tiniest little dress as a mock-up of what I wanted to accomplish. Surprisingly....tiny dress was exactly what I needed to help me out!

The Kaileigh Dress
pattern will be available in the next few weeks...

AND.......it's REVERSIBLE!!!!

Two dresses in ONE. Not that a toddler would ever make a mess or anything, but if you're out and get a stain....turn the dress over!

The top ties in little knots over the shoulders, making the fit more adjustable.

This dress is entirely too easy to sew too. After cutting out the pieces, it takes less than 30 minutes to sew. 30 Minutes!!!

Even better, all of the seams are hidden so there is absolutely no seam finishing to be done. All you need is a straight stitch on your machine.

I can't wait to get the pattern done and have it ready in the SHOP.
Until then, you can find other dress and bag patterns there for your sewing pleasure!

The Great Cloth Diaper Change

Last Saturday, we had the priveledge of participating in the second annual Great Cloth Diaper Change. This is a Guinness World Record event for the most babies simultaneously changed into a cloth diaper. It's an international event with Lots and Lots of babies!! We didn't get to participate last year, so I was super excited to go this year.

Our location was a Natural Baby in Greenville, South Carolina. Gray and I made a little road trip for the occasion.

We were lucky enough to get there early, and snag a swag bag of goodies for the event!

We had some time to kill after registration, so we walked around beautiful downtown. Gray found somewhere to sit and play with the flowers. This girl loves to smell flowers.

We took our seat in our little "box" mapped out on the floor for changing. There were about 60-70 babies at our location. It was seriously LOUD in there!

Gray wanted to bring her orange diaper to change into.

Happy Heinys are definitely one of our favorites. Daddy likes the large tabs and Gray likes the bright colors.

I haven't heard any official numbers yet on the number of babies who actually participated, but I'm excited to see the results. Last time I checked there were 305 locations in 16 countries hosting events. Woohoo!

Clemson Spring Game

Oh Football. I miss football. If you're new here, you may not know that we are OBSESSED with Clemson football. But don't worry, once the fall rolls around, you'll see the obsession first hand.

Saturday was the annual Orange-White Spring Game. The day is full of activities for "Little Tigers", an alumni football game, and the Spring Game where the current team plays each other.

We got there early to spend the day in Tiger-Town. it was B-E-A-utiful outside.

Gray was super thrilled about her "GoGo" hand stamp. She calls EVERYTHING that has a tiger paw or tiger stripes on it "GoGo". This may, or may not have anything to do with how many times she's heard us yell GOOOOOO at the football games.
We'll work on the word "Tiger" later, but for now, GoGo is cute.

Death Valley looks soooo weird empty, but it's still beautiful.
We sat and watched the alumni game for a little while.

It's not very often you get an empty stadium and good photo opportunities without lots of people in the background. Baby girl liked her perch on the wall.

I can't get this kid to smile in a picture with me for anything. Her Daddy...yes. Me...No. At least she's making a sweet face and fixing my hair for me.

Sweet Sweet baby toes for game day!

Our new favorite family portrait. With Howards Rock. Every Clemson fan should have this picture...we're a little late taking ours.

Hubby's new favorite picture. We met CJ Spiller and got him to autograph some of Gray's things for us. He is truly a Clemson legend.

We didn't make it through the whole spring game. Too. Much. Football.

We can't wait for September for all of the games to start again.
College football season is by far my favorite season.

{Tutorial} Spring Wreath

A month ago I had the *Unbelievable* pleasure of guest-posting over at U-Create and sharing my
Robin's Egg Wreath.

{Here is the post from U-Create}

I'm Jenilyn from Grits & Giggles and I am absolutely beyond thrilled to be here at U-Create today as a creative guest! I have been a reader for a long time, and have LOVED participating in the Create With Me series that Kari puts together each month. My blog is full of  Tutorials for sewing and crafting, sewing Patterns, and Mommy meanderings.

I'm just a little embarrased to say that I have just this week taken down my Christmas Wreath. It was time....because it's March. It was time for a new wreath. I wanted something that screamed SPRING without lots of flowers...and with no PINK. I don't do pink if I can help it.

Robin's egg blue and chocolate brown are one of my favorite color combinations, so I thought "Why not put it on the front door to welcome Springtime?"

Here's how you can make one too!!

Materials:
1 round foam wreath
24 medium sized plastic eggs (easter section of ANY store)
20 small plastic eggs (From Hobby Lobby)
Spray Paint in your favorite color
Accent paint color
hot glue
ribon
tulle

Let's get started!

To begin, lay out all of your eggs and make sure they are snapped together properly.

My small eggs were colorful, and my large ones were white.

Spray paint your eggs in a well-ventilated area, preferably outside. Allow one side to dry then turn them over and spray again.

I gave mine about 3 coats until they were shiny. I left some of the colored eggs a little thinner though, because I liked a little bit of their original color "peeking" through.

Once they're dry, use your accent paint to draw designs on some of the eggs. You can use a paintbrush, or squeeze paint right out of a bottle.

I drew lines on some, dots on some, and left the rest plain.

Before glueing your eggs, tie a length of tulle or ribbon to your wreath for hanging. It will be hard to get it around the eggs later!

Begin hot glueing your large eggs around the inside of your wreath. Turn them different directions for variation.

Add a second row around the outside of that one, filling in holes where you can. Once your large eggs are glued on, begin using your smaller eggs to fill little holes where you can see the styrofoam wreath.

To camoflauge the styrofoam further, I added some little tulle puffs on the inside of the wreath. Just place a dot of hot glue on the inside and stick your tulle to it, then continue around the wreath creating puffs.

Add some ribbon to your tulle bow and hang it on your front door.
You're ready for SPRING!

*Happy Crafting*

Thank you so much Kari for having me here today.
I hope ya'll will come by and visit Grits & Giggles and say HI!

I hope you had a chance to see it at U-Create!
*Happy Crafting*

Easter Sunday with Family

I'm a little late with the Easter pictures from this weekend, but we had a wonderful family weekend together!
Saturday was our Easter Egg Hunt at the church, and Sunday Hubby was off work to join us for church, lunch, and an afternoon of relaxing!

Turns out, Gray is a beast when it comes to egg hunting. This kid can spot them, and HAS to get them. Once she found them all, all we heard was "MORE!!!"

Fortunately the church picked a few easy spots for the younger ones, and sent the older kids to find the harder spots.

She racked up pretty quick.

Yes...we hide eggs in the graveyard. Our church is in the middle of three cow pastures so we have to utilize what we can. I would personally love to have giggling babies having fun near my final resting place....it's the most beautiful sound in the world.

No good church event ends without food...and lots of sugar. The other kids patiently decorated their cupcakes...mine just ate hers.

That face melts my heart into a puddle of goo.

My two favorite women...Gray and her Nana (Mama!!)

She learned to shake the eggs to see if something was inside.

She loves her Morgan Dress, but I think she loves her matching hat like Daddy's more.

She's one lucky little girl.

Easter Sunday, she got to wear her Lily Pulitzer dress finally! A friend bought it for her birthday, and it now fits. And of course, being southern and MY child...she also wore her pearls and bow.

Someone please caption this picture!!!
I want to think she's saying "I will stone you evil villain!!"
Not quite sure who she's yelling at....

So sweet and innocent.

We managed to take a picture of 4 generations...with both grandmothers!

We are so blessed to have all of our family so close to spend every holiday/Sunday/whatever day with them!
