Well I decided I wanted one for me too! Since I didn't want a mini-dress I decided I would make a top, just in the same style as her little dress. I found a great Banana Republic shirt at the thrift store that looked brand new and had to have it! It was only $4!
I got my pattern all measured out and cut (which needed some serious adjustment later)
And I shredded the shirt into little pieces!!! Hahaha! Okay....it wasn't that dramatic, but I did cut off the sleeves and the collar.
An hour of sewing and lots of trying-on later....I had my shirt!!
I love how it turned out...and you can't beat it for only $4. Buying it from Goodwill, everybody wins!
I'm thinking about adding a flower like the one on Gray's dress. What doyou think?
I have found a new love for refashioning clothes. I can't wait until Hubby cleans out some of his older stuff to see what I can come up with.
And as an afterthought....I felt like I had seen this shirt before when I put it on. Then I got to thinking about WHERE I would have seen it before. I figured it out when I woke up this morning.
I used to own an almost identical shirt from American Eagle when I was in college!! I loved that shirt, which may have been what drew me to choose this one to make my new shirt! Something about a blue and white stripe just does it for me. In the picture with me is my Bestie/Maid of Honor/lil sister Morgan. We have changed a lot since Junior year! She lives entirely too far away from me and I miss her! Tear.
