Beach Trip: Part 1

We are back from the beach!! It was an amazing Friends-cation with lots of memories, laughs, and good times.

We went to beautiful Folly Beach, South Carolina near Charleston. I had only been once before, and I barely remember it, so it was nice to go back and really experience it.

There were 8 of us this week. Seven 20-somethings and  2 year old. Talk about an interesting mix! Fortunately Gray was good 90% of the time with only a few minor meltdowns over a lack of Barney and juice or ice cream.

The ride in to Charleston is beautiful over the super-long Cooper River Bridge.

It towers over the water, so it can be a little scary to ride over.

The girls took a trip downtown to visit the market. One of my favorite parts of the market is seeing the handwoven baskets and flowers.

Nothing makes me smile like a Palmetto tree. Not those super-tall palm trees out west....but a short, stumpy beautiful Palmetto tree.

The Pineapple Fountain is a Charleston landmark. The pinapple is a symbol of welcome, and this fountain certainly says "welcome" to me.

The gardens and lawns at the Battery are beautiful and full of flowers and palms.

A night time walk around Battery Park let us see the Cooper River Bridge lit up for darkness. It's so pretty.

We are usually Myrtle Beach people, enjoying the young and noisy feel of the Grand Strand. It was nice to get to Charleston for a slower pace and historical sites.

More pictures to come....
