More Laura Jane Sewing

The Laura Jane Dress has quickly become my favorite pattern to sew, and YOURS too!!

This little pattern is flying out of the Pattern Shop. And what's not to love? It's easy to sew, looks completely adorable, and comes in 12 sizes...perfect for all ages of little girls!

I've sewn up a few more myself in the past few weeks for my baby, and for others. Here's a couple of more sewing ideas for you with this dress.

Simple and sweet. A perfect  little navy blue dress with a monogram. Great on its own, or even better with boots and leggings for winter.

It's a modest dress, but simply adorable.

A friend of ours welcomed an adorable baby girl into their family last week. She needed some dresses as well! Her Mommy wanted one for fall and one for Christmas. They're even cuter in tiny sizes!

I've been using my new embroidery machine (my latest addiction) to embellish the dresses I sew, but there are soooo many ways to add personality and embellishment on your own! Pockets, ric rac, trims, simple appliques, and multiple fabrics can be used to make a truly unique dress.

These sew up in no time at all and would be well-loved by a little girl in your life.
What a great Christmas present!

Sweet Little Diapers

Almost exactly a year ago on our Facebook Page, I posted a picture of these little babies I was sewing up for my upcoming little one. I am a lover of cloth diapering, but the expense of the cute little newborn diapers was not as appealing as how cute they were. So I sewed a lot of my own.

I mentioned that there may be a pattern in the future. I didn't forsee it taking over a year to actually happen, but I'm now working on getting it drafted for YOU! Even better...it will be FREE.

My goal is to have 4 sizes: Newborn, small, medium, and large to sew all-in-ones and fitteds.
(You can also make pockets, but I won't include instructions for those)

My sweet boy doesn't fit in these anymore, but he's almost ready to try fitteds for night time diapering, so I'll be sewing up some new diapers soon.

Hopefully it doesn't take me another whole year to get this one out to you.

Deck Your Halls

It's almost time to deck your halls for Christmastime again. I am in complete denial that it's almost Christmas. This time last year I was blown up like a balloon, and typing up tutorials for my Becoming Mommy series.
(If you missed it, it was two weeks of mommy/baby projects!)

Because I was prepping a nursery and our home for our newest bundle of joy, I didn't do a lot of Christmas crafting. I did, however, pull out these goodies from years past. Check them out and get your crafting started!

It's almost time to put up the trees!
(Ours does not go up one second before the end of Thanksgiving.)

A Little Preview

I have really fallen in love with pattern making. Because I LOVE making things for my babies, I sew a lot. And if it's something I like, I draw out a pattern to have again. I figure, if I'm drawing it in one size, I might as well spend a little extra time and do more sizes...which results in adding to

My family is a little obsessed with fleece vests. They're practical. They keep you warm without lots of bulk, and they add a little color to a boring long sleeve shirt. We all wear them.

(This was the one time Hubby WASN'T wearing one)

With winter approaching, I wanted my babies to be warm, without the fussy bulk of a big jacket. Vests were on the sewing menu.

I loved them SOOOOO much when I was done, that I got out my pen and paper, and started drafting.

This little baby is being tested as we speak.... and I've sewn up a bunch myself!

I am head-over-heels in love with this camo version for baby boy. Hubby is jealous of his boy's new vest. I think he wants one in his size.

Goldilocks' is over the top girly, lined with pink fleece and with a little pocket on the front for all of her treasures.

It's soft, comfortable, and warm. Just like babies like to be!

The pattern will be for sizes 12 Months- 12 years.
I cannot WAIT to have this ready for you to sew too!
You're going to love it!

A Two-fer

There are about a million other things I should be doing than sewing right now... but it's too much fun. And so is pattern making! Therefore... I decided to release these two patterns together. A two-fer if you will.

First is the Kristen Apron Knot Dress.

I love browsing Etsy and seeing these darling little dresses, so naturally Goldilocks had to have one.
(or two or three)

The bodice is perfect for monogramming, as every southern dress should be.

The pattern includes sizes 6 months-5T, with photo instructions on putting the dress together.

It also includes directions on adding a ruffled apron if you wish!

The second pattern is the Aprile Knot Dress and Top

This pattern is available in 6 months-5T and includes measurements and directions for making a dress AND a top. I love both, but this top version is my favorite. Can you tell who chose the fabric??

Such a sweet little top.

Use 2, 3, or 4 fabrics to make a one of a kind garment!

The dress is a conservative length, and with a shirt underneath is perfect for the cooler months.

This bodice is also perfect for monogramming.

Both are available at Grits & Giggles on Etsy, or Craftsy
for instant download, and are only $6.50.

Make sweet layered looks for the winter and cool and swingy warm weather garments for the spring. Little girls NEED these in their wardrobe!

Our Happy Halloween

It was all treats and no tricks for our family this year! Yippie!

I hope your Halloween was safe and happy as well.

A little Goldilocks told me she wanted to be one of "Aunt Kai Kai's Cheerleaders" for Halloween. Kaileigh is a cheerleading coach at our high school, so I obliged and made her a legit uniform to wear. I think she could join the sideline crew tomorrow!

The old-school pleated skirt makes me happy. And of course she loves that it twirls.

She needed a monogrammed ribbon to match.

Like a good supportive brother, baby boy was a football. He was a little small for pads and a jersey this year.

We had our annual Trunk-or-Treat at the church. It's a fun time, with a safe place for neighborhood kids to trick-or-treat without the door to door. I borrowed Mama's décor this year and set up a harvest theme. All Halloween doesn't have to be spooky.

Of course, some participants go all out! Goldilocks' Sunday school teacher made for a decent death-row inmate! Noose included.

Hubby helped her trick or treat around the parking lot. I was proud of her though...she had more fun handing out candy than asking for it!

My "niece" was a pumpkin pie. How stinking cute is she???
Her Daddy's a chef, so it was totally appropriate.

Her and baby boy are just a few weeks apart in age. Little twinsie cousins.

Now that Halloween is over with I can wait for my favorite holiday....Thanksgiving! I boycott all things Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. First things first people...first things first.
