The No-Sew Stadium Blanket Tutorial

I want to share with you  how to make mine and Hubby's all-time favorite blanket at our house...the no-sew blanket. I know these have been around for a long time, and most people know how to make them...but just in case, here's how you do it!

I can't begin to tell you how many of these blanket we have at our house. They have been accumulated by both of us, some made by me, and some given as gifts. One in particular I made for myself before I went off to college and it's my FAVORITE. Well as in any good marriage, since it's my favorite, my husband has stolen it and claimed it as his own. I made him this one in hopes that he will give me mine back!!

This is the warmest blanket we own, so if you live in say...Texas, or southern Florida, or anywhere else with year-round summers, you may want to steer clear of this one.

Let's get started!

For an adult length blanket, you will need 2 yards each of two pieces of fleece. I like the look of a pattern on one side and a solid on the other, but you can use two solids, or two prints as well!

*You must use fleece for the no sew because it doesn't fray*

Use smaller lengths for child sized blankets.

Begin by trimming the edges of the fleece. Lay one piece of fleece right side down, and the other piece on top of it, right side up. Trim the pieces until they have even edges.

Cut a 5" square out of each corner, through both pieces of fleece.

Begin cutting into the sides of your blanket. Cut strips 1 1/2" wide and 5" long down the entire length of your blanket. This doesn't have to be exact. If you want skinnier or fatter strips...that's okay! Just make sure you keep the length 5".

*Make sure you cut through both layers at the same time so you have the same number of strips on top and bottom*

Once you have cut all the way around your blanket, it's time to TIE!

Grab one top and one bottom strip and tie them in a double knot.

Do this with every set of strips all the way around the blanket.

That's it!! Stand back and enjoy your extra soft and warm blanket...no sewing machine required!

Both sides are gorgeous.

Ready for cold foodball games and tailgating, curling up by the fireplace, or lounging on the couch.

Happy Crafting!!

Your instructions were super easy, and I'm looking forward to making it with him tomorrow. Thanks for sharing! I will be linking a picture of our finished creation to your blog next week at thedomesticatedprincess.blogspot.com.
